About
Whilst I dabbled with photography as a teenager back in the 80’s, my real interest in landscape photography began in year 2000, when I moved from London to Dublin. The environment in Ireland with its beautiful and varied landscape inspired me to buy an SLR and start the learning process of trying to transfer the beauty around me onto film.
I have been learning, and building my portfolio for the last 6 years both at home and abroad. My photographic style is continuing to develop and I currently spend a lot of time focusing on and isolating detail within the landscape.
I currently live in County Wicklow, just south of Dublin. I am extremely lucky from a photographic perspective as Wicklow has just about everything a landscape photographer needs…Beaches, Sea, Lakes, Mountains, with a wide variety of weather thrown in on top. I firmly believe that there is a lifetime of photography to be had within a short drive of my home. However in building this site I have become even more aware that I do not have enough strong images of the Wicklow landscape to justify my claim here. Things like work and life tend to get in the way. I will be making a conscious effort to get out more as we move into 2007 so stay tuned for more images.
The other area of Ireland that features strongly in my portfolio is County Kerry. My wife’s family live there and whenever we visit I take the camera along and try to get out. In this way I am doubly blessed, as Kerry is every bit as stunning as Wicklow.
My career also takes me abroad frequently, and I have built up a number of images on my travels, in places like Finland, New England and Italy.
Over the past year I have been working hard to expose my work to a wider audience. I plan to continue this for the coming year and am looking at a number of opportunities to exhibit my images during the year. I will add details of these to the news section over the coming months.
Oh... and for the record, that isn't dandruff in my hair. I don't spend too much time in front of the lens. This is a photo from my wedding. The white stuff is confetti.
